Scrappy Canary's new nest!

Scrappy Canary has a new home!

To support the changes made and those that we continue to work on in our effort to make Scrappy Canary Australia's best kit club with more exclusives and exciting kits we have decided to move the blog.

We will be working on transferring all of the Polly content that you love over to the new blog in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition.

You can find us at Scrappy Canary - see you there!

Masculine June layout by Sandra Bunch

Hi there everyone, it's Sandra with a new layout using pieces from various June kits. I loved every single one of Ruth's final "hurrah" kits, so I may have indulged in many kits during June :)

One of the things that stuck in my mind from all the talk in the Scrappy Canary VIP Lounge was that the June kits were quite girly. That's about all I needed to hear for my stubborn self to try and prove those people wrong (sorry ladies!!) and show that any kit will also work for male layouts. As I have already mentioned, I LOVED the June kits, but I have 2 boys as well as my girl, and none of them were missing out on having a layout made for them this month. What I love about these kits is there is so much in them, so I can make a whole bunch and still have left-overs!
Firstly, I cannot express how deeply my love runs for Wilna Furstenberg's script pieces and stencil. The stencils especially, I know will get a work out! The script words will have to wait for the "perfect" layouts, because those my friends, aren't just for any layout :) I chose to use the "Love you to bits" mini stencil as my title. I pulled out my black watercolour paint and splashed myself a messy background over the stencil and extending around the photo. You do have to be careful around the stencil so that the paint doesn't slip too far under the stencil and make it difficult to read. You can use a temporary adhesive if you like. While the paint was still wet and pooled, I "sponged" over sections with a paper towel to make it look that bit more grungy.

I used another Wilna exclusive, this time a wood veneer in a cluster at the bottom left of the page, over the {scrAp that!} gold dipped speech bubble.

I did a similar thing at the top of the page, using the hearts and leaves Wilna stencil. Even though the stencil is quite girly, I don't think it looks out of place in black on this masculine page ;) The vellum piece in the Coffee and Bacon scrap kit works perfectly for boys, so that was a must. Other than that I just used a couple of strips of paper here and there just to give it some colour, and then more gold with the glitter stars and string. I then punched out some stars from the same paper and scattered them around the page.

I have been thoroughly enjoying seeing what the other DT girls and the canary VIPs have been coming up with using the June kits. Thank you so much for sharing. The support in that group is amazing, so if you've been thinking about uploading but a little shy, I highly recommend taking the plunge in that group :)

Love and light,
Sandra xx

Scrapbook Layout with Guest DT Kylie Beller

Hi everyone!!

We have the wonderful Kylie Beller gracing our internets once more with a surprise layout!!  Kylie emailed me earlier this month offering a second blog post - check it out, you'll agree I'm sure that it's a gorgeous layout and one we're fortunate to have been able to share with you.  Over to Kylie!!

Helloooooo!  How are we all?  Even though this post is featuring on Friday night I'm writing it on this chilly Melbourne Sunday morning before I head off to watch my 8 year old play footy.  Brrrrrrrr rugging up warm and slightly resembling the Michelin Man with all my layers LOL.

I wanted to share with you an insert that I created last Saturday night for last week's Project Life layout. It was made with the Polly! Scrap Twilight Pocket Life Kit and was a cinch to put together.

I really don't do much traditional scrapping these days. I prefer to just stick to my pocket page style and add an insert if I have lots of photos for the week.  But sometimes there are just those kind of photos that just beg to be 'scrapped'.  These three photos used here were just that!

I kid you not, this 8"x8" page took me about half an hour, if that.  I really love how bright and cheery the Basic Grey Highline die-cut flowers are and the "Right Now" was perfect to make things 'pop' a little.

I chopped up some of the included papers to make small pennants/flags and added some foam tape behind them some to add dimension.  I bought a cute little Typo stamp last week and decided to use the triangles in white ink to give a little bit of a chalk board feel.  Finishing the layout off with the cute Pink Paislee Hello Sunshine cardstock sticker which was exactly what I want both of my boys to always remember...  Be happy, be bright, be you!

Happy Friday night peeps and stay warm :)

Cocoa & Chocolate Scrapbook Kit with Manda

Hey everyone, Manda here. Firstly let me welcome you to the first day of Scrappy Canary! Ruth and I have been busy getting things ready to go and as you can see the blog has had a bit of a makeover and the new website will launch soon but we will let you know as soon as it is ready to go.

So today I am going to share a layout with you that I made with the June Cocoa & Chocolate kit. I loved this kit so much especially the exclusive from Wilna Furstenburg, so much fun!
I loved this paper from Echo Park but it was a little bright for my liking so to start off I used a make-up sponge and put a light coat of white acrylic paint, not enough to cover the patter, just to soften it a little.
For this page I challenged myself to mostly the sticker sheet and I think I did pretty well. I did add a silhouette cut (from The Cut Shoppe on Etsy) and because I wanted the heart to match the little sticker heart I used a piece of 6x6 paper (that was not in the kit) that matched.
I am saying some the the Wilna acrylics for another project so I only used these little hearts that came in a separate add on. If you would like to see how the layout came together you can see it on my YouTube channel.

If you would like to share anything you made using your Polly Scrap Kit you can share it on our Facebook Page or in our special subscriber VIP group. We would love to see your projects.

Have a great day,
Manda xxx

Tea & Toast project life spread with Bernii Miller

Helloooo there..

It is Bernii Miller here with on this chilly Monday afternoon to share with you another Project Life spread I made using the June Tea & Toast kit and I also used a few pieces from the Cocoa & Chocolate add on embellishment kit..

Now this weeks spread is a little less embellishment heavy as this is now my 2 .5 ( I have an extra 8 x 10 instert along with this spread also ) so I am using up the last of the cards and the wood grain paper from the kit. You can see the first layout HERE that I made using this same kit.

It is a fairly straight forward and simple layout and I had fun adding splashed of colour around the week with the exclusive Wilna Furstenberg acrylic pieces.. they are just to darling!!

I didn't want to cut up this photo of my son playing on his new train mat so I decided to just add journalling pieces straight onto the photo..

I hope you have found some time to pull out your new June kit and start playing also..

Till next time

Much love
Bernii xx
